My head feels stuffy. That is not normal.
I will be going to drink Green Tea in a minute, because it is good for you.

The Evolution of Medicine

I have an earache ...

2000 BC - Here, eat this root.
1000 AD - That root is heathen. Here, say this prayer.
1850 AD - That prayer is superstition. Here, drink this potion.
1940 AD - That potion is snake oil. Here, swallow this pill.
1985 AD - That pill is ineffective. Here, take this antibiotic.
2000 AD - That antibiotic is artificial. Here, eat this root.

A temperature of 99.1? That's nearly boiling point!

As for the earache, I disagree entirely. If it's otitis external, no pill or prayer will work, you need microsuction and drops. If it's TMJ dysfunction you need a dentist. If it's a parotid tumour you need an MRI scan.

I agree on the green tea however. Just make sure you eat something with it or you'll get terrible indigestion.

Evolution of Medicine so true. I have had many an earache over the years and believe that prayer works the best. The good lord created the earache and only he, in his ultimate wisdom, can take it away.

I once read about an ancient treatment for rash that involved rubbing and onion on the rash and the burying the onion in the ground; not sure when they figured out that burying it really didn't do anything.

Which reminds me of Austin Bradford Hill and your Alzheimer's post - I'll have to look one up. BTW, did you know that if you smoke and/or drink coffee, you're less likely to get Parkinson's disease? Don't forget Dr. Hill when you reach for the hard-pack...

When you have a fever I would seriously recommend skipping the green tea. You should probably just get some rest.
